For Chennai, the Margazhi Season is one of the most musical and beautiful times of the year. And that’s partly because of the bright colours and beautiful sarees that come together to celebrate carnatic music at it’s finest.
At Palam Silks, we wanted to celebrate this time of the year in the right way. So we introduced a series of sarees under the banner “Concert Collections”, the first edition celebrated musicians and the second for performers and audience alike. In 2016, we wove our sarees with musical notations as zari borders from the five quintessential ragas as a dedication to the performers of the season - Kalyani, Kambhoji, Sankarabharanam, Bhairavi and Todi. For the 2nd edition, we celebrated both the patrons as well as the performers by weaving the “Kutchery Sabha” on the pallu, making it a great look for the margazhi season.
The sarees feature musicians and their instruments, seated across the stage during a performance. While the earlier edition was perfected for musicians themselves, the new collection is for everyone who loves and enjoys Carnatic music.
